bread pudding

yummy tea time :)

in my effort to finish off the expiring bread, i've thought of a brilliant, easy, and yummy idea. hence this

bread pudding!!! i've always wanted to make some but never did. and now that i've finally made it, i think making bread pudding is really as easy as 1, 2, 3! unless you are going to use your own homemade bread that is. i'm not saying that making homemade breads are hard, it just will take more time than using homeBRAND breads. aha aha aha.

as always, i won't be using a complicated recipe in my first attempts at making or baking anything. so i used this simple, yet marvelous recipe i found on the net. this time i didn't do any tweakings on the recipe and followed it to the T. but since i didn't have any ground cinnamons as the actual recipe had called for, i tried to use a cinnamon stick, broke it into 3 pieces and just plunged them into the batter and i stirred, stirred, and stirred so that hopefully the cinnamon taste would come out and blend in with the rest of the ingredients.

and it did! happy me :)

i left the cinnamon pieces on the surface of the pudding while baking so that the taste could be more prominent. ouh, and i also used the water-bath method. ehe, i think i've fallen in love with the pudding. i love it! it's delicious yumm yummm :)

bread pudding

ingredients
  • 6 bread slices
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional. i only sprinkled some)
  • 4 eggs (beaten)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 1/2 tbsp vanilla essence
how to
  • break bread into small pieces in a baking tray. drizzle melted butter over the bread pieces and sprinkle with some raisins if desired.
  • in another bowl, combine all the other ingredients and mix well. pour over bread and lightly push down with a fork/spoon until bread is covered and soaking up the batter.
  • bake in preheated oven at 175 C using the water-bath method for 45 minutes or until the top springs back when lightly tapped.

that's it! it really is simple isn't? effortless! and the outcome sure is rewarding enough :)
